Caroline Davis was recently appointed as the first female chairperson of the Torngat Joint Fisheries Board in the Nunatsiavut land claim region of Canada. Caroline (Buckle) Davis was born and raised in the southern Labrador community of Lanse Au Loup. She received her post-secondary education at The Institute of Fisheries and Marine Technology with a Diploma in Food Technology. She also attended Memorial University and received a bachelor’s degree in Technology. The majority of Caroline’s diversified career thus far has been Fishery related. Caroline started her career with Fishery Products International in Burin NL as a Quality Assurance Technologist. She then moved to St Anthony, NL and spend most of her career thus far as Quality Assurance Manager, Production Manager and General Manager of a Shrimp, Crab and Multi Seafood Production Facility for Clearwater Seafood’s. In addition, Caroline held a position of Business Development Manager with Clearwater Seafood’s. These roles with Clearwater allowed Caroline to travel to all the major international seafood producing countries and was able to assist in the Product Development, Marketing and Sale of Clearwater’s Seafood Products. Caroline moved back to Labrador in 2012 and took on the role of General Manager with Air Labrador. Caroline is currently the Site Manager with Irving Aviation in Goose Bay. Caroline was appointed on March 15, 2020, by the Government of Canada to the Torngat Joint Fisheries Board.
