A Glimpse into the Bras d'Or Lakes 2023 CEPI Conference

In the heart of Unama'ki (Cape Breton), the Bras d'Or Lakes Collaborative Environmental Planning Initiative (CEPI) recently hosted a thought-provoking conference that brought together Indigenous knowledge holders, scientists, and community members to explore the theme of "Etuaptmumk: Two-Eyed Seeing."

I wanted to share this on the Co-management Commons because so much of co-management is about using different knowledge systems and there is a lot of lessons that have emerged from the concept of Etuaptmumk.

The event showcased a diverse range of perspectives on the importance of integrating Indigenous and Western knowledge systems in environmental stewardship and resource management. I recommend the fire side chat with Elder Albert Marshall who has been a tireless advocate and educator on the topic of Etuaptmumk: Two-Eyed Seeing.
