Abstract

The Yukon Wildlife Manag Board was established by the Canadian government in 1988 to represent both native and government interests in a decision-making agency. In its first 2 yr of operation, 53 recommendations were communicated to the Renewable Resources Minister, all but three reached through consensus. In 1990, the board accepted responsibility for fisheries concerns as well and became the Yukon Fish & Wildlife Manag Board. Although past recommendations have been reactive, the board plans a more proactive role for the future.
