Abstract

In Wood Buffalo National Park, aboriginal hunters' and trappers' intricate knowledge of local ecosystems can form the backbone for ecosystem management. Co-operative wildlife management blends the input of native peoples and their traditional ways of life with the protectionist attitudes of environmentalists and the National Park Services. The result is wildlife management dependent upon a consensus of the affected regions's inhabitants.
