
Climate Change and Human Health - Massive Online Open-Access Course
Prepared for the University of Alberta
Cloudberry Connections is partnering with the University of Alberta on the development of a Massive Online Open-Access Course (MOOC) exploring the complex connections between climate change and human health. This course is designed to support learners in understanding the wide-ranging health impacts of climate change—from physical to mental health outcomes—while also highlighting practical adaptation strategies, advocacy approaches, and equity considerations.
The course uses dynamic, visually rich video content as its core teaching tool. Through case studies, expert interviews, illustrations, graphs, and other media elements, the videos aim to make complex concepts accessible and engaging. They help learners develop systems thinking skills, understand justice and equity issues, and connect global climate challenges to actionable local solutions.



Cloudberry led the video production for this course. With a background in creating educational media and mobilizing knowledge, Cloudberry brings experience in translating complex research into accessible, visually compelling storytelling. By helping shape both the technical and creative aspects of the course, Cloudberry ensures that the final product is not only informative but also engaging and inclusive.
Key deliverables included:

Video Production Training: Cloudberry supported in-person and online training sessions for the University of Alberta course development team. These sessions helped build skills in film production and storytelling, support the team create high-quality video content independently over the course of the project.

Storyboarding and Production Planning: Cloudberry is developing detailed storyboards and shotlists for the range of videos in the course. These materials guide the visual approach, narration, and pacing for each video, ensuring content is well-structured and aligned with course objectives.

Video Production and Post-Production: Cloudberry is producing a suite of finalized video lessons, including both shorter segments focused on specific topics and longer, more in-depth explorations.
This course offers a unique and accessible learning experience that equips students and others with the knowledge and tools they need to engage in climate-health challenges in informed and equitable ways. Cloudberry’s involvement helps ensure that the course is not only academically rigorous but also visually engaging, community-oriented, and ready to reach diverse audiences.
